Ratio Problem Solving, Scaling & GCSE Season πŸ“βœ¨

It’s been another extremely busy few weeks at Maths Magician, particularly with the GCSE exam season now fully underway. The first GCSE Maths exam took place last week, with two further papers still to come. Best of luck to all students preparing for the remaining exams β€” the hard work and preparation over the year really does make a difference.

New Learning Modules

Since the last blog, the Ratio Problem Solving module has now been fully completed. This topic brings together many earlier ratio skills and applies them to more advanced, multi-step problems β€” an important part of GCSE problem solving.

A full module has also been completed on Scaling with Length, Area and Volume, helping students understand how scale factors affect dimensions differently depending on whether measurements are one-dimensional, two-dimensional, or three-dimensional.

In addition, the first part of the new Reflections module has now been released, introducing students to reflecting shapes accurately on coordinate grids and recognising lines of symmetry.

These topics continue to strengthen links between algebra, geometry, ratio, and spatial reasoning.

πŸŽ₯ YouTube Channel Update

The launch of the Maths Magician YouTube channel is taking slightly longer than originally planned due to the extremely busy GCSE period.

With lessons, revision support, and exam preparation taking priority at the moment, the channel launch will likely now be at least a month away. However, good progress is still being made behind the scenes, and the aim remains the same:

  • Short support videos

  • Linked directly to Maths Magician modules

  • Extra revision help for students outside lesson time

I’m really looking forward to launching this once the exam season settles down a little.

πŸ”¦ Level-Up Spotlight

The Level-Up system continues to show fantastic engagement and long-term consistency:

  • One learner is now approaching 8,000 XP and continuing strongly through Level 12 β€” a huge achievement.

  • Several students are now firmly established in Levels 8–10, showing exceptional dedication across lessons and independent work.

  • Many others continue progressing steadily through the middle levels, with strong movement across the leaderboard.

It’s great to see students continuing to engage regularly, especially during such a busy exam period.

Looking Ahead

Over the next few weeks the focus will continue to be:

  • Supporting GCSE students through their remaining exams

  • Expanding the Reflections module

  • Continuing to build geometry and transformation content

  • Preparing for the launch of the Maths Magician YouTube channel

As always, thank you to students and parents for the continued support and commitment. The progress being made across the platform is fantastic to see.

Keep up the brilliant work β€” and good luck to everyone sitting exams! πŸ§™βœ¨
