Celebrating 10 Years of Tutoring 🎉
It’s hard to believe, but this month marks 10 years since I began tutoring. Over that time, I’ve worked with students from Year 6 all the way through to A Level, helping them grow in confidence, tackle tricky topics, and achieve their goals. To begin my tenth year with more new students than ever before feels really special — thank you to everyone who has joined me on this journey so far!
News & Updates
The latest module uploaded to the Maths Magician Moodle site is on Sampling. This topic is vital for the statistics element of GCSE maths and introduces ideas that connect beautifully to real-life applications, from opinion polls to scientific experiments.
Tips for Success
When studying sampling, think carefully about fairness and accuracy:
Does your sample represent the wider group?
Is it large enough to give reliable results?
Are there any sources of bias?
Asking these questions will help you approach exam problems with confidence and clarity.
🔦 Level-Up Spotlight
Students have been working hard on Moodle, and the XP totals are climbing fast! One learner has already moved beyond Level 3, while several others are now firmly established in Level 2. More than 20 students are collecting XP, which shows just how much activity is happening already this term.
Keep earning points — every step forward gets you closer to your next badge. Where will you be in the next Spotlight?
Puzzle of the Fortnight
Solution to the Mystery Triangle (last blog):
If one angle is twice the second, let them be 2x and x. With the third angle at 30°:
2x + x + 30 = 180
3x = 150 → x = 50
So the angles are 50°, 100°, and 30° ✅
This week’s puzzle – Square it Up!
The difference between two square numbers is 45.
👉 What could the two numbers be?
What’s Next
