Half term progress: Pie charts, statistics and strong momentum
We’ve reached half term already — and what a productive few weeks it has been! While around half of students have taken a well-earned break, it’s been fantastic to see many others continuing with lessons and keeping their momentum going.
News & Updates
Since the last blog, a new module has been completed in Unit 2: Pie Charts. This topic strengthens students’ understanding of representing data visually, calculating angles from frequency, and interpreting proportions accurately. Pie charts are a key GCSE skill and link directly to ratio and proportion work.
Today, the module on Mode and Range is expected to be completed. These core statistical measures help students summarise and interpret data sets confidently — simple concepts on the surface, but incredibly important foundations for higher-level statistics later on.
Together, these modules continue building strong data-handling skills across Foundation and Higher levels.
Half Term Reflection
It’s encouraging to see students who have chosen to continue working through half term. Maintaining consistency — even at a slightly reduced pace — often makes a big difference in long-term confidence and retention.
For those taking a break, enjoy it fully. Rest is important too — we’ll be ready to go again soon!
🔦 Level-Up Spotlight
The Level-Up system continues to show outstanding progress:
Two learners have now reached Level 8, with XP totals exceeding 2,000 points — an incredible milestone.
A strong group of students are progressing confidently through Level 6, with progress bars steadily climbing.
Excellent movement continues across Levels 4 and 5, with many students approaching their next level.
More than 30 students are actively earning XP — a fantastic level of engagement.
Every XP point earned reflects effort, resilience, and developing mathematical fluency. It’s great to see such consistent commitment.
Looking Ahead
After half term, we’ll continue building by moving to Unit 3. As always, new modules are being added regularly, and Completion Progress remains a helpful way to track what’s been achieved and what’s next.
Whether you’ve worked through half term or taken a well-earned break, I’m looking forward to another strong run of progress as we head towards the next stage of the term.
Keep up the great work — Maths Magician continues to grow stronger every week! 🧙✨
